La Niña con Iguana
 
DESCRIPTION: This painting depitcts a young Zapotec girl from el Istmo de Tehuantepec, on the southern coast of Oaxaca. On her head she carries her pet iguana, a local delicacy. The painting was inspired by Graciela Iturbide’s iconic “Nuestra Señora de las Iguanas,” a photograph of a Oaxacan woman bringing four live iguanas to the market on her head.
