THE SHAMAN
 
DESCRIPTION: This is a portrait of a spiritual warrior who wears a helmet, full of foliage that represents healing herbs, like the Mexican pirul, used in limpias, and laurel, representing victory. He carries a Xoloitzcuintle, a dog known to be guides into the afterlife, cempasuchil (marigolds) and candles, a “sahumerio”, meaning “incense burner” in Spanish to clear out the bad spirits.
